The OptaJoke Betting Blog – Week 3

Another week means another OptaJoke longshot for you to get stuck into this weekend. Although Gareth Bale failed to hit the net in Spurs 0-0 draw against Manchester United the over 3.5 double came in at just over 5/1 for a great start to the blog’s profit margin! Congratulations if you were on board with that one and let’s hope for a repeat performance this time round.

For this week’s first tip we are going to get stuck in to one of my favourite leagues to bet on, League One. There are some really good prices around at this level and I’m going to try and second guess the bookies with a Saturday treble. Again prices do differ from one bookmaker to another but i’ll give a rough figure of returns which should be available wherever you choose to put your money on.

Treble to win:

Bournemouth v Brighton (Away win) – Bournemouth lost their boss Eddie Howe to Burley in the last week and this could bring about a change in their fortunes this season. They have played good football in patches this season but the loss of such an influential figurehead could mean they struggle against an inform Brighton. The visitors have won their last 4 straight games in all competitions and are scoring freely.

Peterborough v Hartlepool (Home win) – Despite some really high scoring games this season Posh actually have a decent home record winning 67% of their games at London Road. They have won their last 3 at home and will fancy their chances against mid-table Hartlepool. The Monkey Hangers haven’t scored in their last 3 games and have only scored 9 goals in 13 away games this season. Despite the visitors having a robust defence at times I think Peterborough will score in this one and that could spell trouble for goal shy Hartlepool.

Notts County v Carlisle (Home win) – County have been on a decent run recently and their season is built around a good home record, with 3 wins on the spin at Meadow Lane. Their defence has been their downfall in previous encounters but they have tightened up recently and have only conceded one goal since 23rd November in the league (6 games). Carlisle are capable of good results at times but struggle away against the sides around them, they haven’t beaten a team currently in the bottom half of the league this season. It could go either way but I can’t see past a home win given Notts County’s recent good run.

These results as a treble return around 11/1.

Good luck and happy betting!
